The Wesley Centre was delighted to host the presentation of the King’s Award for Voluntary Service by Mrs Jo Ropner, the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire on Wednesday 30th April.
The Fridge which will be returning to The Wesley Centre shortly and fits with the Church’s vision of using its large building and planned transformation as a Community Hub for everyone. The Fridge opens 3 days a week to enable residents and businesses to share surplus food and for anyone to help themselves to quality food which retailers can no longer sell even though it is still suitable to eat.
Lindsay Wrightson from Malton Free Fridge says, “The Fridge was one of the first of its kind in North Yorkshire and put Malton on the map as a concerned food capital, addressing food waste while supporting those who need food.”
